Table R – REBLE

An Architectural Dialogue

Nominated for the prestigious EDIDA (ELLE Decoration International Design Awards Hungary), Table R marks the debut of REBLE, an independent collectible design venture envisioned by Architres Studio. Born from the collaborative vision of interior architect László Csizinszky, architect Dániel Kis, and partner Johanna Bakcsy, the piece represents an architectural exploration translated into an intimate spatial scale. It interrogates the boundary between functional furniture and sculptural installation, delivering a quiet yet uncompromising presence.

Tension in Raw Materiality

The identity of REBLE is embedded in its very nomenclature, merging the permanence of marble with the imperative of reuse, alongside a subtly rebellious design attitude. Rather than treating luxury as an exercise in excess, the studio anchors its practice in conscious materiality. The stone mantle is constructed from discarded marble remnants that were diverted from landfills and carefully salvaged from domestic stonecutters. Each fragment undergoes rigorous curation and surface treatment, transforming industrial residue into enduring design artifacts.

The object’s soul emerges from the tactile confrontation of two opposing worlds. While the dense stone outer volume carries millions of years of geological history shaped by geological time, the internal core is defined by human craftsmanship and precision-engineered metal. The industrial vibrated steel plate, cleanly folded and embedded within the marble shell, produces a captivating material duality that balances weight against suspension.

Geometric Ambivalence and Spatial Duality

Table R operates as an exercise in tectonic geometry and perspective. Formed as a hollow rectangular prism, its sheer density is visually suspended as the slender steel legs emerge from the interior cavity, letting ambient light pierce through the core. Yet this lightness contains an intentional ambiguity: a simple 180-degree rotation conceals the opening entirely, presenting the viewer with the illusion of an impenetrable, solid monolithic stone block.

This duality allows the piece to seamlessly adapt its narrative to the surrounding architecture. Conceived as an adaptable design investment, it commands attention equally as a sculptural bedside companion, an architectural side table, or a freestanding gallery piece. Each limited creation is finished with hand-selected stone varieties—ranging from delicate Carrara and luminous Taj Mahal to dramatic Picasso and Juparana Bordeaux—rendering every finished object an entirely unique composition of veins, mineral gradients, and modern steel craftsmanship.
